Here's a school photo from when I
was in the upper sixth at Cotham Grammar School in Bristol. |

|
And here's another one I've just (Aug
2003) rediscovered, from the year before. |
(eight years before I was born, but included here for interest)
In September 2006 I was contacted by Derek Rosser who said
"I was interested in your pictures from Cotham Grammar School. I too attended
the school BUT much earlier (1940-1946). I have a photograph of the school ATC
flight taken in the final year of the war. The Headmaster was Mr S R Woods (Wackem
Woods)"
A newspaper article said:
"This photograph shows the cadets of No 4 Flight - 1945 Squadron Air
Training Corps in 1944-5.
They were from the upper-sixth form at Cotham Grammar School.
The 1,2 and 3 Flights were from Bristol Grammat, QEH and St Brendans.
Parades were held on Tuesday afternoons at QEH, followed by aeronautical subject
courses at Bristol Grammar and Cotham.
In the school holidays there were camps and air experience at local RAF stations.
Most of the cadets had started at Cothatm in September 1939.
However, there was a delay because No 3 Survey Regiment of the Royal Artillery
were set up in the playground. Their HQ is now the current sixth-form block.
Most of the cadets left in July 1945, having spent the war at School."
